Castillo de Gibralfaro
The city of Málaga's official flag depicts this castle, known as Castillo de Gibralfaro. Built in the tenth century by the Caliph of Córdoba, and expanded by the Sultan of Granada, the fortress also once housed King Ferdinand. AS you approach, you'll see ramparts rising from the surrounding woods. This distinguishing feature, along with a few interior buildings and a large courtyard, are well preserved. Take a stroll along the ramparts on the outer wall and you'll catch a view of the interior of the bullfighting ring next door. Our Malaga trip planner makes visiting Castillo de Gibralfaro and other Malaga attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

Great walk around the castle walls with fantastic views all around. No info boards so read about the history before you visit. Snack stall outside the entrance selling ice-creams etc. Also nice bar selling g snacks within the castle. Toilets next door. Nice walks in the woods behind the castle.if you follow the one marked to the tunnel, you will eventually walk through a tunnel and back down through the gardens to the harbour or town centre. Recommended to visit on a sunny day but not when too hot.

Cozy place, especially when there’s not that many people! I recommend you spending a couple of hours with walking around, enjoying the view and the lovely garden as well as reading the signs and learning more about the history of Màlaga. You really get an insight in the reasons for all the Arabic influences in the city.
