  • I visited the sky station in December 2021. Sadly, it was cloudy that day. Even after waiting till almost 1 am, I didn't get the chance to see the dancing lights. The sky cleared up for a moment, thus got a glimpse of the green light. The most amazing part of the trip was definitely taking the chairlift through the dark to the top of the mountain. The tour guide showed the way from the STF to the base of the station, where everyone was given a warm overall and a pair of boots. It gets extremely cold while going up the mountain on the open chairlift. The sky station is quite cozy and nicely decorated. There is a cafe inside. The tour included a presentation about aurora. A lifetime experience indeed.
  • The best way to see and experience the northern lights in northern Sweden. Abisko is geographically located behind a mountain which protects it from bad weather and in turn produces fantastic opportunities to see the northern lights. Visit the sky station to have an even more surreal experience of the lights from over 900m above sea level. I recommend the dinner beforehand as you not only experience a great feed but also get access to the mountain ~2hrs before the other guests which makes the experience that much more special.
