Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names.
Porto is known for sightseeing, shopping, and historic sites. Your trip includes some of its best attractions: take in the views from Ponte de Dom Luis I, do a tasting at Quinta dos Corvos, admire the masterpieces at Museu Nacional de Soares dos Reis, and stop by Livraria Lello.

The university town of Coimbra exudes modern flair while embracing its roots as the medieval capital of Portugal.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Coimbra: Caves Messias (in Mealhada) and Nazare (Praia da Nazare & Farol de Nazare). There's lots more to do: admire the natural beauty at Jardim Botanico, admire the landmark architecture of Torre de Almedina, stroll around Parque Verde do Mondego, and contemplate the long history of Igreja e Mosteiro da Santa Cruz.
