Dijon — 6 nights

Gateway to Burgundy

Perhaps best known for its locally produced mustard, Dijon also makes a wonderfully flavorful crème de cassis, or blackcurrant liqueur, and boasts excellent examples of regional architecture with polychrome roofs made of tiles in terracotta, green, yellow, and black placed in geometric patterns.
Musee des Beaux-Arts de Dijon and Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon will appeal to museum buffs. Popular historic sites such as Abbaye de Fontenay and Monastere Royal de Brou are in your itinerary. Get out of town with these interesting Dijon side-trips: Yazmhil Et Brice Corman, Maroquiniers Createurs (in Noyers-sur-Serein), Chablis Vititours (in Chablis) and Chateau of Bussy-Rabutin (in Bussy-le-Grand). Dedicate the 30th (Fri) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. And it doesn't end there: trek along Owl's Trail, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Paroisse Notre-Dame De Dijon, take an in-depth tour of Musee de la Vie Bourguignonne, and see the interesting displays at Musee Magnin.
