Nouakchott, which means "place of the winds" in Berber language, serves as the capital and largest city of Mauritania, and one of the largest cities in the Sahara.
On the 9th (Tue), take a leisurely stroll along Port de Peche, then browse the different shops at Al Khaima Mall, then explore the wide array of goods at Marche Turc, and finally stroll through Plage de Nouakchott. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 10th (Wed): hunt for treasures at Marche Capitale, then indulge your taste buds at Galerie Zeinart, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Saudi mosque, and finally get into the urban bustle at Centre culturel francais St Exupery.

If you are flying in from Mauritania, the closest major aiport is Nouakchott–Oumtounsy International Airport. In August, plan for daily highs up to 38°C, and evening lows to 29°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 11th (Thu) early enough to fly to Casablanca.

The port of Casablanca, Morocco's largest city and economic hub, represents the country's beating heart, established as a French protectorate in 1912.
