Nimes — 4 nights

French Rome

Nîmes has a rich history dating back to the Roman Empire, with a stunning coliseum that is second only to Rome's.
Visiting Off-Road Tours and La Course Camarguaise d'Arles will get you outdoors. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Bois de Espeisses and Mas du Grand Bordes. Change things up with these side-trips from Nimes: Manade de La Viroulenque (in Saint-Laurent-d'Aigouze), Safari Le Gitan (in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer) and Horseback Riding Tours (in Beauvoisin). And it doesn't end there: make a splash at Aquatropic Espace Aquatique, take in the spiritual surroundings of Cathedrale Notre-Dame-Et-Saint-Castor de Nimes, don't miss a visit to Le Spot, and explore the historical opulence of Castellum Aquae.

To find reviews, ratings, where to stay, and tourist information, you can read our Nimes day trip planning website.

If you are flying in from Namibia, the closest major aiports are Nîmes-Arles-Camargue Airport, Montpellier-Méditerranée Airport, Marseille Provence Airport and Béziers-Vias Airport. Expect a daytime high around 34°C in August, and nighttime lows around 22°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 20th (Sat) early enough to go by car to Uzes.

Next up on the itinerary: head outdoors with Cap07, don't miss a visit to Vallée de l'eure, add some adventure to your tour with a kayaking and canoeing tour, and admire the natural beauty at Jardin médiéval.
