Create an itinerary including Qasr Al Hosn
The oldest stone building in Abu Dhabi, Qasr Al Hosn, hosts an 11-day cultural festival by the same name. Known as the White Fort, this attraction was originally constructed in 1761 as a watchtower and wasn't painted white until the 20th century, when it was renovated. The fort was expanded in the late 1700s when it became the residence of the ruling Sheikh. Today you can visit the fort and tour the museum to discover the history of the city of Abu Dhabi through a permanent exhibition, or see live performances during the fort's annual festival. • We were lucky to attend the place during the Qasr Al Hosn festival. Interesting and rewarding event. Be sure to arrive also at night to appreciate the great conservation work.

  • A nice historic landmark and worth a visit if you have more time in the city. There is not so much to see, around 1 hour might be enough. It was quite empty when we visited, almost no other visitors. There are also some nice cafes and fountains in the area.
  • It’s a public space with some outdoor food and coffee kiosks. Parking : Basement parking is available. Once you park, you can take the elevator and it takes you to the plaza area right infront of the main building . For those who are attending any special events, it’s best to call them and check for the tickets. Otherwise, one can also always take the ticket on the go for the exhibitions. Behind the main building, there are some coffee shops by the water side. You can experience the downtown while sipping your coffee . Picture one is taken from one of the coffee shops. Dress: It is best to dress modestly as there are many locals visiting this place.
