Not for the squeamish, Surgeons' Hall Museums houses one of the largest and most historic collections of surgical pathology in the world. Originally developed as a teaching museum for medical students, its collections have been open to the public since 1832, making it one of Scotland’s oldest museums. These collections include bone and tissue specimens, surgical artifacts, and works of art. Gawk at the displays, learn about the history of surgery from the 16th century to today, and even test your own surgical skills with interactive displays. As you would expect, it is quite gruesome in some areas, and the faint-hearted might want to pass on the pickled fetus and skin-covered pocketbook. Loved this museum. It's really interesting and worth the admission fee (8,5 for adults). The have a large collection of surgical procedures and a closer look on diseases in the human body and how it affected real-life bodies. Because of this it is quite graphic, but still very informative. I liked it a lot. We spent two hours here.

Fascinating place, with great staff. The lady on the desk pointed out it may be a little gruesome for my son, which was lovely of her. Turned out he loved it. Truely fascinating place and one I shall be revisiting next time I am that far North! And I did come back! Again, superb place to visit. No hesitation in recommending a visit!
