Experience 800 years of naval history at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, which is surrounded by working docks and several historic buildings. At this location there’s plenty to keep everyone in the family entertained, with regular special events, educational activities, talks, and exhibits. Go aboard historic HMS Victory, HMS Warrior, and HMS M33. You can also visit the raised wreck of a sailing ship from the time of the Tudors, accessible from the Mary Rose Museum building. Stop by the site’s informative Action Stations center, containing interactive demonstrations of various aspects of naval science. With the number of simultaneous visitors to each exhibit limited, it’s best to book your tickets online to skip long lines and avoid disappointment. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, Portsmouth holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

Lots to see and lots to admire. We had the pricey full ticket so we could explore everything. However, the area may be better explored over two days. Cramming the whole historic dockyard into one day.... more

A great place to visit and where you could spend much of a day. Tickets are generally cheaper if purchased in advance.

Brilliant little place, so much to do, we spend 2 days here with the kids and they loved it. They had a nice cafe and inside that they had some really awesome retro games machines for the kids, the old style fortune teller things and grab machines from the 40s filled with retro stuff. The ships were amazing to look around and the people working there were very knowledgeable. Ice cream stand/van was nice with a good selection. Museum was actually really good with some interactive stuff for the kids. Got yearly tickets will return!

The best value ticket (do get the ultimate explorer ticket especially if you can visit more than once) we've had for attractions. Spent near 2 full days there and loved it all. Very interesting and fun. Well balanced for kids and adults. Some may find low beams and steep steps in ships a little effort but brings home what it was like for the seamen. So much to see Victory and Mary Rose (surprisingly we done) ate obvious attractions but (ideally last) Warrior is a great Comparison (do engage with the 'actors' and ask questions..they were brilliant). Dockyard tour, Victory museum and boathouse exhibitions all worth a visit. Submarine exhibition a must too..amazing to see what is like for the Submariners. Fascinating chatting to an ex submariner too.
