Walthamstow Market, in the London Borough of Waltham Forest, is the longest (though not the largest) outdoor market in Europe. It occupies all but the last 100 metres (330 ft) of Walthamstow's High Street. It is reputed to be a mile long, but in fact measures approximately one kilometre.

Big market with a few good stalls (plants, Ethiopian food, fruit and veg) here and there but the majority of it is tat, pretty grubby too. The farmers market on the weekend is a welcome change though.

This is the best market in East London, and definitely one of the best in London. You find absolutely everything here and prices are unbeatable, no lie. I travel over an hour most weekends to shop here and will continue to do so for as long as possible cos no other market gives as much value and variety. If you've never been, you're missing out 100% and you must go ASAP cos it's open 7 days a week.

Nice to see a part of London that still has an outdoor market - with stalls ranging from fruit and veg, to clothes and handbags to perfumes...etc. It's a lively part of London. Walking through it, you can run into "characters", whilst also feeling relatively safe. You feel a sense of community where a lot of the regulars clearly come and visit and take their business there. The market runs along the high street, so there are also well established high street shops alongside it, should you need something more (jewellers, butchers, ethnic foods...etc).
