If you enjoy a good costume drama, Charlecote Park is probably your cup of tea. You can even on a period maid’s apron and try your hand in its fully operational Victorian kitchen. Home to the Lucy family for more than 800 years, the house is one of England’s best-preserved estates with formal gardens and miles of woodland walks opposite the River Avon. Costumed volunteers lead guided tours through the brewhouse, tack room and great hall. You’re welcome to enjoy a sit-down meal at the on-site restaurant or bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds, where William Shakespeare was once caught poaching. Head Ranger Joy was an absolute delight. Knowledgeable and funny. Also an absolute brilliant and beautiful place. Really worth a visit!!!! 😃 Lots of deer too and in the summer the heritage sheep and the deer sometimes wander the park together making it like a pg version of Jurassic Park. All in all a great day out and worth every penny!!!
Charlecote is a wonderful place for a day out. Wandering around the grounds, spotting the deer and other wildlife in the grounds. The National Trust volunteers are very helpful, and there are often childrens’ trails run there too. Also multiple spots to have your picnic, and a nice cafe if that’s your preference too.
