Stayed for about 1 and a half hours. There's lots to see, a lovely peaceful atmosphere, and we could have taken Holy Communion while we were there. The stained glass windows are amazing!

Fantastic visit to this astounding, amazing, beautiful, peaceful and serene building. I am not a Christian but York Minster does inspire a belief in something more. It isn't so vast that you can't see everything it has to offer in an afternoon, in as much detail as you want. Not crowded, even on a Saturday. Children enter for free, adults are a reasonable £12 each. Good, clean, accessible toilets are available and there is the obligatory shop on the way out. There are multiple points for stopping and reflecting/prayer, including candle lighting stations. Donations requested but not obligatory. Convenient cashless points for donation as well as cash collections. Several small chapels, main altar, knave, etc. Smaller attached rooms/chambers to explore all exquisitely adorned/decorated and a comprehensive guide book and knowledgeable guides to consult at various points. I thought our 3 children (10, 6 and 3) would be bored after 20 minutes, but after an 1hr and 40 minutes they were only just beginning to tire and/or become bored. The stained glass windows, carvings and different chapels really captured their attention. There was also a short service/invitation to prayer and request for a short silence at 3pm from a chaplain and were informed there would be another at 5pm too. I thoroughly recommend a visit here if you are in York and can't praise the staff and the building highly enough.

Amazing experience! We thoroughly enjoyed the minster. Such a wonderful, historical, and awe inspiring place. The tower climb is a must as the views at the top are spectacular. Also, every member of staff we met was really friendly and helpful. Will visit again on future trips to the UK!
