Interesting piece of history, no charge to walk the property. I found it interesting that 29 of the 32 homes are privately owned and occupied. You get a feel for how people lived in the 16 and 1700s. Looks like they have very specific rules where you can't update the property without deconstructing the historical significance. The museum was closed when I visited so I can't speak to that. If you are unaware, the claim to fame for this alley is it's the longest continuously occupied homes in the country.

History buffs will love this spot. Dating back to 1703, this street is known as being the oldest continuous neighborhood in America. Located n Old City, Philadelphia, Elfreth’s Alley is made up of 32 homes including a museum, Elfreth’s Alley Museum. In years outside of the Covid pandemic, Elfreth’s Alley hosted a “Deck the Alley” event which included caroling, holiday festivities, and self-guided tours of 13 private homes. This cherished landmark is a great place for photos and saunters through time but be aware that many of the buildings are current private residences so decorum and respectful visiting are necessary for all visitors.
